Our mission statement:

We are called in Christ to live faithfully, to make disciples and to bring God's love to all.

                                             EVANGELISM

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets,

some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,

to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body

of Christ may be built up.   Ephesians 4:11-12

                     "COME HOME WHERE PEOPLE CARE"

This theme hangs on the side of St. David's building, sending a message to all who

pass the Lord's house on Clark Blvd. & Lake Shore dr. But also sending a message to us,

the people, congregants, children of God.

"Come" to me and "I" will lift you up, "I" will comfort you, "I" will give you peace,

"I" will be with you forever no matter what!

          Come "Home" where "People Care"

"Home," meaning St. David's, a great place to met the Lord, also "Home" meaning

in the loving arms of our Saviour that he can make his home in your heart.

"People Care", the people of St. David's look to reach both inward to our current

family, and also to reach into our neighborhood and all who come through our doors!

As St. Paul says in Ephesians, all have something to offer the Lord in building up

the body of Christ, our Saviour and Lord "Jesus". May we all in unity reach both inward

and outward.

                           We are called in Christ

                           To live faithfully

                           To make disciples

To bring Gods' love to all

Our church mission is clear, if we listen carefully we will hear our Lord Jesus

call us-you.

Lay Ministry

HOPE!

Dear friends, now we are children of God, and

what we will be has not yet been made known.

But we know that when he appears, we shall be

like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone

who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as

he is pure. I John 3:2,3

In looking to care for all of St. David's family and extended family, the Lord Jesus has called a number of caring people, members of St. David's to this ministry. Along with many other members who reach, touch and care for those that are sick, homebound, on nursing homes or assisted living to bring the hope and love that our Lord Jesus first gave us through the Holy Spirit to keep all connected to St. David's. If you need a visit and/or know of someone that needs a visit please contact one of these people - Mitch Maybury (516-242-1655) Paul Trabold (516-586-3119) Ina Cohen (516-541-9532) Jill Ewen (516-826-8025) Karen Corbett (516-795-3253) Candice Bruder (516-797-2636) Anne Anderson (516-541-8777) Jennifer Feldman (347-886-7258) or the church office.

Bible Study

We gather for weekly Bible Study on Thursday mornings at 11:00 a.m. in Classroom 2 on the lower level of the building, in the education area. We alternate studies of individual books of the Bible with surveys of the various types of biblical literature and discussion of the implications raised for Christians by current literature (for example, The Da Vinci Code), incorporating information about the biblical origins of our faith and the traditions we have inherited through more than 2000 years of history for the Christian church.  Bible Study meetings are led by a pastor or a member of the congregation.

Everyone is welcome at any class because we all have something to contribute when we study the Bible.  Please join us!

For information on the Women's Bible Study group, see the flyer on the Additional Info page.

Confirmation

Confirmation Ministry is a pastoral and educational ministry of the church which begins at baptism. Christian formation begins when a child becomes a member of the church at baptism. Through the support of family, godparents, Sunday Church School teachers, Pastors and other church members your child has been growing in the Christian faith. We hope that this has included regular Sunday worship and Sunday School. Holy Communion probably began in the fifth grade.

During the year 2005-2006 the 7th and 8th graders will be studying the Old and New Testaments. In the Fall of 2006 the curriculum will change to cover Martin Luther's Small Catechism. Seventh and eighth graders will meet on Wednesday nights from 7:25 to 8:45 p.m. They are also expected to be in Sunday Church School at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays. Worship takes place on Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. and at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.

Deaf Ministry

St. David's Lutheran Church in Massapequa Park invites you to grow in Christian faith and worship our Lord.  Every Sunday morning, at the 9:30 am Holy Communion service, we offer hearing and deaf families worship together with an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter.

Holy Communion is offered to all baptized Christians who have been prepared to receive the Lord's Supper.

In addition to Sunday morning worship, we have signed services on Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter and Christmas Eve.

Bible study classes are offered on Wednesday evenings at 7:15 p.m. during lent with ASL interpreter service. Light supper will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Pre-marriage counseling is offered by the pastor with an interpreter, as well as classes for new members, preparation for Baptism and Confirmation, counseling at times of crisis or need, bereavement counseling and funeral services.

Social events are held about five times per year in February, April, June, October and December.

MUSIC ministry

The ADULT CHOIR is seeking new members and is open to all who take joy in singing. The choir sings every Sunday from Rally Day in September to the middle of June, alternating between the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services. They also sing on Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, all Holy Week services and at occasional interfaith services and concerts.

The
CAROLING KIDS is our children's choir which is open to grades 2-9. They sing on the first Sunday of every month at the 9:00 a.m. “First Family Fellowship” Service in which all Sunday school children worship together. They also sing at the family Christmas Eve service at 7:00 p.m.on December 24th and on Easter Sunday. There are many opportunities for good singers to have solos and for those who play instruments to enhance worship with their performance.

Our contemporary music group, LED BY THE SPIRIT, rehearses in the church on Wednesday nights at 8:15 p.m. throughout the year. This group is open to all and performs periodically throughout the year  including the family service on Christmas Eve. The group's director, Janis Garone can be reached by the calling the church office and leaving a message.
